Welcome to Day One of "A Simply Scored Christmas." I have planned a blog series of 15 photo tutorials and mini tutorials of projects using the awesome new Simply Scored tool, available in the mini catalogs (item #122334). All the items will be suitable for gift-giving or cardmaking this Christmas season, though not necessarily Christmas-related. Enjoy this library of papercrafting ideas as they build from now through December 15th, 2011!
We're starting off today, December 1st, with a card gift box shared with me at the last demo meeting by my adopted team member, Diane V--thanks, Diane! I love it because it literally takes about two minutes on the Simply Scored board to make, and yet it's such a nice touch when gifting cards to friends, co-workers and family members.
This box holds anywhere from 8-12 cards, depending on your embellishments, plus envelopes. Ready to start? You'll need just one 8.5x11 sheet of cardstock, Sticky Strip, and any papers, stamps, punches and ribbon you desire to embellish.
Score the 8.5x11 sheet at 1, 7, and 8 inches on the long side (as indicated with the Simple Scored place markers above). Turn it 90 degrees and score at 1, 2, 7.5 and 8.5 on the short side (not pictured). Then trim off the corners and snip to folds as shown below:
Assemble the box like you would any box, using Sticky Strip or other strong adhesive (SNAIL is not going to be enough for this project). You'll notice there is a double tab on the long sides--that gets folded and adhered down to cover the box joints as shown below--a very nice, professional touch.
The flap shown on the right folds up and becomes the front of the box, attached with Sticky Strip. You're all finished--all that's left is the fun part--embellishing!

Hello,
This is really lovely, however there is an error in your measurements.....On the short side the paper should be scored at 1, 2, 6.5 and 7.5 ☺ It took me a bit (6 tries) before I realized what the problem was.
