Whew! We've made it to Day Eighteen without missing any of the 31 Pages in 31 Days blog series! Whoo hoo!! I will admit, I've made use of the "scheduled posts" feature to make sure that happens on weekends like this one when I'm at a retreat, but I am pretty proud of myself for everything I've gotten accomplished so far in the 31 days of August. Besides all these fun traditional pages, I've also gotten a whole My Digital Studio album finished, one nearly finished, and another about half way done. It feels GREAT to get those photos out where my family can see them and remember our fantastic trips.
Many of you have asked me how "I" personally scrap, combining my love for traditional papercrafting with my newfound love of digital designing. The answer is, I do them both! I do a digital 8x8 album for each of our trips, and traditional and hybrid pages for my 12x12 family books.
Anyway, today's page is a single layout made with strips of torn newsprint layered on a solid sheet of First Edition Designer Series paper. The torn and sponged strips not only add texture and interest, but they break up the print so you can't get too distracted by the words when you are supposed to be looking at the photographs!
This page has a large amount of texture, actually, with five different ribbons and five buttons and brads. Spaced out randomly all over the spread, they'd be distracting, but together, they have lots more impact.
The coolest thing about this spread, though, is the waxed paper lace we made using the new Delicate Designs embossing folder on the Big Shot! Waxed paper is acid free and safe for photos, and gives you lots of fun opportunities for upcycling in scrapbooks. We also made glassine-type envelopes for storing little notes and keepsakes in your albums, using the Petite Pocket die.
Join me tomorrow for some more crafty inspiration, and be sure to leave a comment if you are playing along with the 31 Pages in 31 Days challenge!
