I'm at the dentist again today for the second half of my procedures so I'm not really smiling today, but YOU can be if you have the chance to get in the stamp room and make some simple, fun summer cards like these!
You can get away with mixing bold bright patterns like these when you have a clean white base and lots of white space in your design. White space is the graphic designer's term for a plain, non-busy area of your canvas, where the eye can "rest." Did you know I was in graphic design before I had kids?
Every well-designed project has white space! Do you see where the "white space" is on these cards? Do you see how the blank area actually draws attention to the focal point of the project? Resist filling every little corner of your scrapbook page or card with something. That's one of the best professional designer tips I could ever give you.
