Ghiradelli Chocolate Purses

I've been asked to post about these cute little purses, which I developed for last Valentine's Day. I hold an annual event called the Chocolate Lovers' Stamp Camp, where all the projects revolve around my favorite food in some way, shape or form. In years past we've made lotsavalentines and a variety of treat bags and boxes; cocoa packet cards and sliders; mini purses and tote bags; and even a vellum votive candle cover--with a chocolate scented candle to go in it, of course! It's great fun--but the BEST PART is that we always have a chocolate buffet with fondue, and even chocolate coffee!

So I'm always on the lookout for candy that will fit neatly into a little stamping project, and these individually-wrapped Ghiradelli's are perfect. They also come in a bunch of different colors/flavors now, so if you are THAT particular, you can even pick a color to match your DSP.

I'm thinkin' these would make SUPER CUTE Christmas ornaments? or for the over-acheiver out there, Halloween treats for the whole neighborhood? >laugh<

This post is making me hungry--never mind that we just finished dinner. Anyway--here's the instructions, and once again, I apologize for the wonky font. (ETA: oh, dear, now it's REALLY wonky--I just messed with it again. I'm not seein' any way to change it in Typepad, tho I'm sure it's out there! I promise I will get this thing figured out) Enjoy the project, and try not too eat so many of the Ghiradelli's that you have to run out and buy more.

Ghiradelli Purses

Supplies needed:

4x6 inch piece of double-sided Designer Series Paper

8-inch piece of narrow grosgrain ribbon

1/4 of a Velcro self-adhesive dot

Small and Large Oval Punches

Boho Blossoms punch

Scrap cardstock that coordinates with the DSP

Brad in a coordinating color

Stampin’ Dimensionals

Sticky Strip adhesive

Paper cutter with scoring blade

1. Score the cardstock at 1.75 and 2 inches from each of the short sides. Score just one of those ends at .25.

2. Score at .25 and .5 inches from each of the long sides. Snip up side scores and fold to form purse.

3. Use the Small Oval Punch to notch out the inside purse flap.

4. Use Sticky Strip cut in half lengthwise to adhere sides of purse. Glue down the quarter inch on the flap to reinforce that wear point. Use Sticky Strip to adhere the ribbon handle as shown on the sample.

5. Stamp a saying and punch it out with the Small Oval Punch. Punch a mat for it with the Large Oval Punch. Adhere to the purse flap using a dimensional.

6. Punch a flower with the Boho Blossoms punch and insert a brad, adhering to purse flap.

7. Add Velcro at closure. Insert individually-wrapped Ghirardelli chocolates—they just fit!

And just because I'm in a generous mood, here's a bonus--this was one of the Valentines we made at the same event. If it looks familiar to fellow demonstrators, a version of it was on the display boards at convention, only on that one I stamped "U & ME" instead of "LOVE" and I don't think I had a heart on there. This card looks great with "GRAD" or "B-DAY" stamped in there as well--love that Well Worn Alphabet and Numbers.
