Ready for another reason you need the Pennant die for the Big Shot? Here you go! The pennant can be folded into an adorable little "fry" box that holds a good variety of fun stuff like a couple of cooca packets, large candy bars, candy cane sticks, and much more! Here we go. By the way, this idea is from my very own little brain, so if you'd like to use it, please make sure to give credit where it's due. Thanks!
Fold a sheet of Real Red CS in half the long way (vertically) and run it through the Big Shot on the largest pennant die. lay it on the desk in front of you with the point facing up, up and away from you. Here's a photo of what we're going to cut, and then there are two close ups where you get to enjoy my handwriting.
Cut the very tip off as shown here (would you believe I used to win awards in school for penmanship?). Count down four more scallops and score a line across. Count down one more scallop from that and chop it off. Then cut off the next two scallops. Lost already? Never fear, there's another picture below.
On both of the sides, you want to count up eight scallops and you should come to the place where you cut the tip of the pennant off. So score straight down from that eighth scallop on both sides, then move back down two scallops and score straight down again, on both sides.
The perforated bottom edge (normally the top of the pennant) gets clipped on those score lines, then folded up. Then the whole thing folds into a fry box, and you dig out your handy-dandy Sticky Strip to secure it so your goodies don't fall out (how embarrassing!).
Whoa, blurry, sorry about that. Now, there's two ways to finish off the box itself before you go nuts decorating this cute little booger. You can either use the tip of the pennant itself, that we cut and scored for that purpose, OR you can use the scalloped circle ornament pieces that come with the Pennant die. Either way is super cute, and either way you are just using scraps, so it's good for the environment, so give yourself a pat on the back for that, and move on to the uber-fun part, the embellishing and filling!
I finished off mine with a fun stamp matted on another one of the ornament circles, with some Real Red gingham ribbon on the front, and a giant Big Shot snowflake on the back. Then I tied it in a flat cello bag with Whisper White grosgrain ribbon.
BONUS TIP: I designed these fry boxes especially so that anything you put in them no longer has any calories. Whoo hoo!!!
Now get off the computer and go make a bunch of these, or call me and order the Pennant die right away! See these posts for more "out of the box" pennant ideas:
