Continuing our excursion from Skagway, Alaska, at the depot in Fraser, British Columbia, we boarded the historic coaches of the White Pass & Yukon route and headed down out the mountains. This was our conductor--doesn't he look authentic?
We had been told the train was cold and uncomfortable, but we didn't find that to be the case. And even if it had been, it would have been worth it to view the incredible scenery. That was the fastest two hours I've spent in a long time!
I wish I could help you understand how it really feels to go to Alaska in person. I think it just might be one of those things you never really "get" until you go there yourself. I definitely needed a bigger vocabulary of superlatives to describe this place!
