I have been meaning to share this idea with ya'll for months now, and finally got to it today. I have a couple of Christmas Clubs, as you know, and they make 12 cards total each meeting--4 each of three designs. Well, as I was prepping for them last year, I was thinking about how to help the heat embossing go more smoothly, as that's always a bottleneck in the process. I also needed to make sure the table was protected as the heat can warp even heavy plastic.
I had these heavy 12x12 chipboard pieces from the backing of some our specialty paper packages, and they are thick enough to keep the table safe. Then--the lightbulb came on and I got out my clothespins! And bingo! We had a way to emboss all four cards at once (actually you can pin six on there), without burning your fingers, without the cards flying away in the breeze, and without any time wasted setting them down and picking them up individually.
So there you go--I hope you enjoy this useful tip as you work on your beautiful embossed cards this Christmas! Leave me a comment if you'd like to see a Tip of the Week type feature on my blog! Tip of the Week - yes, please!
What a BRILLIANT idea for the embossing. I just got my order today and have 3 of those heavy chipboards now. I'm going to use them when I have my friends come over in a few weeks for our monthly stamping session. We are in Christmas card mode and this tip will be very handy!

If you don't have the chipboard piece, you can use a clipboard. It will hold two cards under the clip but more if you have smaller pieces you are embossing. I have a piece of cardstock covered in aluminum foil that sits under the clip to help diffuse the heat. Could use the clothes pin to add a couple more below the clip as well.

One of the reasons why I don't have my 4 ladies heat emboss is the time issue. I am going to try this one of these months because it looks like it will solve the problem. Thanks for such a great idea.
