Thanks for your patience in waiting for the last installment of the Procrastinating Crafter's Guide that was supposed to go live yesterday! I am feeling much better today although still tired and achy. I tell ya, there are some nasty viruses going around this year. My family has been sicker already this season than we normally are during the entire winter. No fun! Especially no fun when it interferes with important things like STAMPING!
Anyway, I was able to get the last post ready to go, so here it is! Today's "stuff you already have around the house" project is a ribbon tab medallion that goes together in a flash and will be perfect to embellish all kinds of things this Christmas. They are totally addictive to make, and so easy, you'll find yourself saving even the tiniest scrap of ribbon in order to make them!
My favorite way to use these is as ornaments. Instead of the stamp and punch in the center (I used the Scallop Circle punch and the Perfect Punches stamp set) you could even use a circle punch to insert your children's school pictures on these. What a great gift for Grandma!
These ribbon tab medallions are so simple to make. I'm estimating you could easily get ten or more made in a half hour. All you do is punch out two scallop circles (regular circles work fine, too) and put Sticky Strip around the perimeter of one side of both of them. Using several colors and styles of ribbons in one-inch or longer pieces, lay them on the Sticky Strip as shown on the left below.
Fold the ribbon back in on itself, leaving roughly the same amount outside the scallop circle as a "tab" fo each of the ribbons. Layer the second Sticky-Stripped scallop circle over the top to cover the rough edges, and you have a nice sealed, professional-looking medallion. Embellish as desired!
Thanks so much for joining me during this December 2012 blog series. I had lots of fun coming up with quick ideas and I loved the challenge to use only what I had on hand around the house. I hope you enjoyed it as well! I'd love to hear if you made one or more of the projects or were inspired to infuse your own holidays with handmade touches, even though you are busy and it would be so easy to let it slide again this year. Make this the year you made it happen!
