I hope you're enjoying my new blog series, 31 Pages in 31 Days! I am LOVING the intense focus on scrapbooking that August brings, as my Scrapbooking Summer School is in full swing during the month and we're all working on the challenge together. It's a fabulous way to focus that mojo that has wandered off sometime in the last couple of years for many of us. If you're a former, current, or wanna-be scrapper, I encourage you to play along and challenge yourself to accomplish a significant goal like this one, one day at a time!
My SSS girls want to do a Halloween layout, and while this is not it, I probably will use some of the ideas off this sample page when I design theirs for next week's class. The punches are out of control on this page--circles and scallops and ovals and labels all over the place! I love using the 2.5-inch circle punch to punch out photos, too.
I'm not a Halloween fan at all, although I do have the traditional pics of the kids on the front porch in their costumes before they head out to go con sugar from the neighbors. But I wanted to use this layout to show you how easy it can be to incorporate a cute handmade cardfront into a layout! Just to the left of the two photo mats is a complete cardfront I got at convention from my demo friend Catherine. I used other papers to extend at the same height of the card across the whole page, then put my photo mats on and embellished all down the right hand side. Easy peasy! And the whole color scheme was drawn from the card, so the page came together in no time.
So, awesome way to recycle cards you don't want to throw away--just incorporate them into a layout. No sense in all that handmade love and effort going in the trash, for sure.
Two different stamp sets were used on this page, both from the mahvelous new 2013 Holiday Mini Catalog. One is the Halloween Bash stamp set on the cardffront, which also incorporates the new Witches' Brew Designer Series Papers; and the new Label Bracket punch with it's coordinating Tags for You stamp set. You can also see the Witches' Brew washi tape in this closeup. There is a lot of cute Halloween supplies in the mini catalog if you are into that stuff, including a treat bag kit and a really neat spooky banner accessory kit that you can purchase to turn the Build A Banner into something fun but classy looking for your fall decor.
Don't have a Holiday Catalog? Well, let's get that fixed right away! Email me your address and I'll pop one in the mail for you, free of charge. See you back here tomorrow for more 31 Pages in 31 Days! [email protected]
I would have never thought to incorporate a card front in the layout. Great idea!

I'm not a big Halloween fan either but it looks like it would be easy to make this into a two page spread. Perfect to scrap the two grandchildren in their Halloween costumes this year. I wonder how they will be dressed up this fall?

You have really made scrap booking easy! I've always been intimidated by it so I only make cards! I am exited to try this!

I really enjoy this layout as well. I like that it will work for scary or cute photos!
