I'm on a roll in the stamp room today! But I'm taking a break to deliver on my promise to get you directions for this simple "pull-up" style card that I shared on the ninth. You are going to flip when you see how easy it is! When you open it, the card inside actually pulls up from the pocket to expose your writing. It's super cute!
So let's get started! To begin, you'll need a 4x12-inch strip of cardstock, a Simply Scored board or other scoring tools, a 5.25x3.2inch piece of neutral cardstock for the interior, mini glue dots or Sticky Strip, and stamps, ink and papers to embellish your finished project.
Score your 4x12 cardstock strip at 3.75 and 9.25 inches. Our card is going to fit in a regular envelope, no problem. Then, score your 5.25x3.25 inch rectangle at five inches on the long side.
Put glue dots or Sticky Strip on the little quarter-inch flap you just created, and position it STICKY SIDE UP (very important!) as shown. The edge without the flap should just reach to the second score mark on the card base piece. You can see there's space between the edge with the flap and the first score mark on the card base piece.
Then, close the card. The Sticky Strip or mini glue dots will adhere to the inside of the top cover. If you did it correctly, when you re-open the card, it should look like this. See how the white card is attached only to the front cover and not the back of the card? That's what makes the pulling mechanism.
The rest is super simple. Fold the bottom card flap up to form a pocket, securing with Sticky Strip or other strong adhesive. Make sure whatever you use doesn't come too close to the insert, or it won't pull freely up out of the pocket when it is opened. If it has trouble catching, you can trim the card down so it's not quite as wide, and it should be ok.
There you have it! The rest is just embellishments. I LOVE a SUPER quick and easy way to dress up an ordinary card with a little something extra. Costs pennies and takes like two minutes to do--my kind of project!!
