Wanted to post this on the blog on July 4th, but decided not to wait. Our troops and the families left behind need our support all year round, not just on some designated day!
I'd seen the red, white & blue concept done with the Work of Art stamp set in various places online, and came up with this version for my club members to make. It looks difficult, but when you realize those "swooshes" are actually stamps that just make it appear like you painted it, then you see how simple it is. Just three stripes in Real Red, and two sooshes in Pacific Point, with little stars added in Glimmer Paper.
I hope you'll consider sending an encouraging card to a soldier's family that you know, or cheering up an elderly vet. You can also use an organization like Operation: Quiet Comfort, which enables you to send a word to a recouperating soldier here in the States. it doesn't have to be fancy, just heartfelt. Get the kids involved and make a craft day out of it! I know you'll think of many ways you can put your card-making talents to good use for our troops.
