Hooray!!! it's almost August. WHY am I so excited about that fact? Because it's time for Song of My Heart's annual blog challenge, 31 Pages in 31 Days!
I started this challenge years ago based on a brand new concept called immersion scrapping. Traditional scrapbooking, as we used to do it, not longer fits into people's lives. Glancing at our dusty totes brought us so much guilt. And worst of all, precious photos were left unseen in memory cards... year, after year, after year.
So rather than trying to carve out consistent time during the crazy-busy week of today's modern woman, snatching a weekend here and a hour or two there, instead we'd devote one month out of the year to wholly give ourselves over to scrapbooking.
And the radical thing is, it worked.
Suddenly, we had permission. Permission to make all the mess. To print out all the photos. To drag out all the albums. To get it all out, and leave it all out, because there was a clear start and end date. No excuses needed!
And at the end of the month, we put it all away--and are glad to have our dining room back--but with a sense of accomplishment that was somehow always missing from those frantic, snatched-grabs of time we'd been sneaking throughout the year.
Because THIS time, there is a huge stack of finished pages to slide into those protective sleeves. THIS time, there are albums to close, not with a sigh, but with a big smile of satisfaction.
It actually works.
Immersion scrapping. Is it for you? Let's find out!
Take the 31 Pages in 31 Days Challenge along with me! Each day in August 2017 I'll post a scrapbook layout or double-page spread as an inspiration. You can copy it, swipe some ideas, or just do your own thing. We'll have weekly drawings and prizes, a Facebook group you can post pics to, and one very lucky participant will win 31 pre-made sample scrapbook pages.
Are you in? Leave a comment below if you're ready to quit messing around and get serious! And even if you don't get thirty-one pages accomplished, I can guarantee you you'll get more done than you did last August. : )
I think it sounds like an awesome idea! I'm in

I'm ready Lyssa!! The 6 foot table is already up and I'm organizing supplies. Are you having any in-person sessions this year?

This sounds wonderful, I actually touched one of my albums today and said to myself, I have to finish this!!!
I'll take the challenge and even though I will be travelling for most of the month, I will get some pages done!

I am so ready to do this. What a great idea. Not sure I will be able to do this but I am certainly going to try.

Love the idea. I love to scrapbook but cards are so much faster so scrapbooking keeps getting pushed to the back burner.

Hi Lynn1 No, due to my health issues there are no local in-person classes this year. Hopefully next spring.

Never done scrapbooking before but I do have piles of photos not in albums so interested.

I'll play! I've been working in my scrapbook room for a month or two, getting photos organized, throwing out stuff I don't need, etc. I must admit (a little sheepishly) that some of the pages we made last time I did 31 pages STILL don't have photos in them though :(

Sure. I'm in

Live this idea. Have a basket of stuff from my Grand Canyon trip and can't seem to force myself to complete or even start the scrapbook. With my wacky work schedule not sure how dedicated I'll be but here's to a 31 page scrapbook. (Hope that's enough pages😎)
Posted by: Gail Rhodes | 08/01/2017 at 10:52 AM
I am willing to give it a try too! I love to see all the scrapbook pages but I haven't really done any myself, so this will be a really big challenge for me.
