I love pink at Christmas, when tastefully used, and you'll usually find one or two holiday cards sporting that color during the year here at Song of My Heart. Last night I was playing with me new Wise Men From Afar stamps in Elegant Eggplant purple... and Sweet Sugarplum is a no brainer for a coordinating color!
After I got this all stamped and watercolored, It was still lacking ...something. I went out on a limb and embossed it with the Seaside embossing folder on my Big Shot, and I love the trendy texture it added. The whole thing is definitely non-traditional, but still respectful of the season yet elegantly festive, along with easy to reproduce, which is pretty much the trifecta of Christmas cards.
Here's the original idea version, with just watercolor brushstrokes to texture the sky, and Copper Foil for the matting. It's pretty, but it lacks the visual ka-pow of the embossed one, I think. And the copper would maybe have better been Silver or Champagne instead of a pinky tone that competes with the Sweet Sugarplum watercoloring.
What do you think? Do you like the funky embossing on the top card, or prefer the simplicity of the bottom version? Do you like non-traditional cards, or can't get enough of good old red and green? Weigh in in the comments. Oh and if you like this stamp set, it's retiring this month (Dec 2017), so get it here before it's gone forever!
I love traditional Christmas cards. But I love the sunset/twilight look of the bottom card!

I like the embossed card. It really stands out. The sunset sky would work to on the embossed card.

If I'd gotten the non-embossed card, I would have thought it was gorgeous, but WOW - I love it with the embossing on it. I would love to case this for my Christmas cards. Now I have to buy both the stamps and the embossing folder. You are quite the enabler. :D
