Howdy, everybody! Welcome back to 31 Pages in 31 Day, our annual blog challenge series! Every day during the month of August I'm sharing inspiration pages, tips, freebies and free layouts for all my scrapbooking friends. Today is Day Three!
Be sure to read all the way to the end to get details on our first GIVEAWAY!
Today's inspiration layout is a double page "bleed" style, which is actually awesome for those times when you want to use up a single, odd color 12x12 sheet. In this case, I used one sheet of Basic Gray and one and a half sheets of Pumpkin Pie. Those two colors are about as hot and cold as you can get, so I used Balmy Blue for an accent color, which is actually a bright, "warm" blue. The intensity of it matches the orange and together with the gray they all combine in a sense of controlled excitement. Perfect for a racing page!
TIP: to counteract the strong vertical stripes, my embellishments are circles, the arrows run horizontally, and my journalling piece is tilted at a little angle. Placing the headline vertically would have totally changed the feel of this page by actually working against the flow as you stopped to read it.
My Scrapbooking Summer school participants will be making this in class this week! Here's what they'll be using to complete their pages:

I’ve been scrapbooking since the late 1990s, but I never thought about doing this kind of bleed layout. Perfect for those random papers. Thank you!

I have been scrapbooking on and off for many years. I still have a scrapbook from 6th grade, and that was a long time ago!! I have done traditional, pocket page, digital and a combination. I now make more cards, but really need to get back to scrapbooking because I take soooo many photos, especially of my three grandchildren. Love this layout but would change the colors. (orange is not a favorite)

I honestly can't remember when I started scrapbooking but I know there were only 5 colors of acid free cardstock to choose from. Boy, have things changed! I'm looking forward to creating these layouts to help me get a little more caught up.

I’ve been scrapbooking for 18 years, since my first granddaughter was born. I’ve scrapped back to 1978- the birth of my first child. Every time the kids come in, they drag out the scrapbooks! Many are now comparing what they looked like at the age of their children! This layout would also work with rainbow colors or monochrome shades.

I have been scrapbooking for about 25 years. I have three sons and they enjoy looking through their books. They especially enjoy reading all the comments that make scrapbooking a way to share special memories with them!

Sweet layout, Lyssa! You inspired me to give scrapbooking a try last August with the Challenge & had my mother not broken some bones in her lower back & pelvis, I most likely would've completed it. I love your style of paper crafting. Thank you for all of your many tips & inspiration!
