Daffodils and Mason Jars

This posts reminds me--we had new neighbors move in yesterday, and I need to make something to take over to them! Gotta start on the right foot, you know : ) Maybe I'll change the sentiment on this card and include it.

Wouldn't you love to receive a wooden crate like this, with a bunch of spring blooms and a Mason jar of something sweet and homemade? I had so much fun making this card. It's putzier than I normally make, with several inky techniques, multiple die-cuts and even some fussy cutting on top of that. What can I say? I was in the mood.

I really like the daffodil image from You're Inspiring (they remind me of my momma!) but In my mind you can never have too many daffodils. So when I have time, I stamp a few extra, color and hand-cut them out to add to the greens. It adds texture and makes a little fuller bouquet.

Here's another card I made the same day, very simple layout but it really shows off the daffodils. Don't you just love spring?!!

TOP TIP: This photo also really shows off the new Subtle textured embossing folder, too! I really like that thing for when you want quiet texture without a real pattern to it. Paired with the Stitched Rectangles it has such a great tailored feel to it, in contrast with the delicacy of the spring blossoms. Keeping the edges straight and masculine is a great technique for cutting down on the over-femininity of many floral cards.

You'll probably see a few more daffodil cards from me before the season is out. I can't wait until mine are blooming. It's a ways away yet for us here in Wisconsin. But the brave crocus bloomed this week, I can see an inch or two of the incorrigible tulips, and those tardy daffodils will be along before I know it.
