I am a sucker for nautical stamp sets, so Seaside Notions was tops on my wishlist this year. It arrived yesterday, I put it together and sat right down to play! I had some leftover card bases in Crumb Cake and Thick Very Vanilla, so that's where I started with a color scheme that then morphed into Balmy Blue, Petal Pink, Mint Macaron and Grapefruit Grove.
I loved how this layout turned out! If you'd like to give it a go, the measurements are super simple: ALL of the vanilla pieces are 3.5 long by 1.5 wide. That's it! I matted the seashorse image with a super narrow edge and angled it to make it pop out a little more. Is that not one of the easier layouts EVER?
Here's another simple layout (two versions of it) that is also a great fit for this stamp set:
This layout is easy, too. The vanilla pieces are 3.5 tall by 3 wide, and the same 1.5 wide by 3.5 tall. They are matted on a 3.75 x 5 inch background. The key to this card is the little sentiment strip that spans both pieces and ties them together visually.
Are we having fun yet??? This was all from ONE crafting session! This set is really well-designed and it was super quick to pull cards together. Here's the last product of that fun couple of hours of playtime:
I wanted to step this one up a bit, so I took that same 3 x 3.5 inch vanilla piece and layered it over 2.75 x 5 inch piece of Balmy Blue and a 4 x 3.5 inch piece of vellum. I roughed up the edges with my fingernails, inked the edges of the focal point, and angled everything a little bit to lend a very casual, weathered air. I added additional texture with self-adhesive sequins, linen thread twine, and a torn edge on my sentiment.
If you'd like to recreate these cards at home, here's what you'll need:

BEST part about this set? The gorgeously-drawn sketchy art-style made it SUPER easy to color. I used the light versions of Balmy Blue, Crumb Cake, Petal Pink and Mint Macaron to add dashes of color and it just really brought everything to life in softening hues.
I can't wait for my next play session with this one! But be sure to come back tomorrow as I have a special post introducing the new In Colors to share with you all--and you're not going to want to miss the free resource I'm giving away!
beautiful cards!
