I've been having trouble with this big bird, so I was excited to hit upon a layout I felt was worth of showing you guys! Toile Christmas has this great cardinal stamp (and matching dies) but I struggled with the little bum and just couldn't seem to make him work. have you ever had a stamp like that?
Then voila! It all came together, and now I'm thinking this might be MY own Christmas card design this year.
It slays me that the sparkle never shows up on these photos--this card is so pretty in real life, with Shimmery Crystal Effects on the white leaves and Wink of Stella on the cardinal. Oh well! You guys are creative--you'll just need to use your imagination!
I also made a slightly less time-consuming version, without the diagonally torn, die-cut paper covering some of the embossing paste front. You could actually do away with the embossing paste and stencil, too, if you were in a time crunch. It would still be very elegant because of the tone-on-tone cream color and the burst of red.
All right! Are you ready to make it? Here's my supply list--be sure to get the bundled stamp set and dies and save an extra 10% off!
Click any link to let this stuff magically follow you home!
Note: the watercolor pencils are for a little white on the eye and orange on the beak. You can skip that step if you're tight on funds or time.
Be sure to let me know if I can answer any questions about your Christmas projects. I absolutely love helping people come up with a holiday design they LOVE that is actually do-able to mass produce, too!
wow. This turned out stunning.
