My fingers are still inky and the color continues to be purple! We're celebrating the new color Purple Posy by having a long weekend full of purple-only projects. My first card today is a bonus card for my Class of the Month participants in October. I always use the class' featured set when I make a card to send with their sampler of the month, so I knew I needed to use Winter Woods.
But since it's purple party weekend... I used it in purple!
Purple is really fun for a Christmas card, actually. It's very elegant, and being the color of royalty it's great for cards celebrating the birthday of the King! Lavender is less well-known for Christmas colors, but I think here it evokes a glittering twilight that speaks of snow and frosty air.
I made one more card with Modern Heart before I put it away for now. I used the watercolor-look swoosh stamp to make an all-over background in Purple Posy ink, and I like how it added a ton of texture. I used the Purple Posy Stampin' Blends combo pack to highlight the geometric planes of the heart shape. And look how well the new triple purple ribbon goes with all those shades! It ties really nice bows, too.
My last purple project for the weekend... I DO have other things I need to get too....
Since I had the Blends out and a good-sized piece of the copper-dotted goodie bag left, I colored my own background paper Purple Posy. The alcohol ink soaked right through the paper sack material, so if you try this at home, make sure you have paper underneath. Then I stamped and colored the rose (from To A Wild Rose) to coordinate. Sooo pretty!
Fun facts about PURPLE:
- there is one country's flag in the whole world that has purple on it. Dominica has a green and purple parrot in the center.
- Purple Day is March 26th and was created in 2008 to raise awareness for epilepsy. It was chosen because lavender is a traditional herbal remedy for the condition.
- Porphyrophobia is the fear of the color purple.
- Purple dye used to come from the mucous glands of a snail called a murex. The Latin name for murex, purpura, is where we get the term purple.
