Recently I shared two versions of the same card on the Song of My Heart Facebook page (follow us there!) and asked people to decide which one they liked better. One was done with Rococo Rose and the other with Blushing Bride, but otherwise they are identical.
About 90 percent said they liked the darker rose, while 10% agreed with me that the blush was better. To me, the rose one is too busy, because the rose is too much of a contrast with the laser-cut lace. The more mellow blush allows the lace texture to shine without getting distracted by the actual detail. It's actually quite a busy card, and color affects busy-ness, too.
Obviously, with numbers like that, there's no one right way to do things! I love this hobby because it's so perfectly tailored to our individual styles and tastes. You can give things a completely different twist just by adding or subtracting intensity or throwing a fun accent color into an otherwise somber scheme.

This Bird Ballad gift tin of pre-cut laser-lace cards has 12 cards and envelopes, so I'll play around some more and share ideas for it soon! The lace makes it so easy to create instantly elegant cards. Plus, there's no messing with putzy dies and poking out all the little hanging chads. That might be my favorite part of all!
The Bird Ballad suite is retiring with the current catalog (full retirement lists will be out April 23rd!) so don't wait if you want to get a couple of these tins of lace cards. You won't regret it if you do! But you might be kicking yourself later when it's sold out.
