Cardstock: Thick Whisper White

Accessories: Pearls, Stampin' Dimensionals

Stampin' Blends Markers: Old Olive, Seaside Spray, Petal Pink, So Saffron

Instructions:

1. Cut Whisper White card base to 8.5 x 5.5 inches (half sheet of 8.5 x 11). Fold in half to form card.
2. Stamp the special delivery image on the card base with a little spatter all around, using Basic Gray ink.
3. Stamp three postage stamp images in Basic Gray ink on scratch Whisper White cardstock, and color.
4. Punch postage stamp images out with the Rectangle Postage Punch.
5. Adhere the stamp images to the cardfront as shown, using Stampin' Dimensionals.
6. Stamp the sentiment along the bottom edge of the card, with Basic Gray ink.
7. Sprinkle a few small pearls to embellish.
8. Stamp on the envelope to match!

Purple Velvet Nightscape card technique

I was so taken with the gorgeous sample on page 16 of the new 2020-2021 Stampin' Up catalog (request one! [email protected]) that I just HAD to see if I could recreate it at home. It worked! And it doesn't even take super fancy supplies to make, either.

Be warned, though--it's messy! Blackberry Bliss ink is our darkest and most intense purple, and it will stain. So protect your surface, staple a cardstock "handle" to the end of your sponge quarters, and have baby wipes handy. The first time I did this technique three fingers on my right hand were hot pink for three days afterward!

I did this technique live on Facebook, and I just found out how to take that Live and edit out a clip for a video. So here you go! Let's walk through making this cool background together. Our secret ingredient? Q-tips!!!

This technique will never turn out exactly the same way twice! And it will make you feel like an artist. I finished off my cards with sentiments from the Beautiful World stamp set, heat-embossed in Whisper White. Here's my supplies list so you can try it at home!

This last sample wasn't supposed to be diagonal... but I stamped and embossed the sentiment SO crookedly that I decided to cut the piece down. It turned out really cool, with the stark white contributing to both the ethereal mist and the depth of the purple. Fun!

Easy Out of the Box Ornate Thanks Ideas

I've got thank you cards on the to-do list this week! Dan needs graduation gift thank-yous, and I'm more than a big behind on some expressions of appreciation, myself. I've been playing with my new Ornate Thanks stamp set and looking for out-of-the-box ways to use it.

I love how this one turned out! I used all the little secondary sayings to create a background, then put the big primary saying over the top, with some faux-suede technique heart punches. Definitely a one-of-a-kind card!

Had to try the hinge-step Stamparatus technique with this set! Love how it looks in bright rainbow ink colors.

The Ornate Garden suite in the new catalog is a bit busy for me, but I love the versatility of the Ornate Thanks set by itself. I did get the Ornate Frames dies, though, and while they are a little too putzy for me for everyday cards, I came up with a couple of designs that are a little cleaner and simple to reproduce.

What stamps have you used in a totally out-of-the-box sort of way? It's fun to discover new uses and color combos for your toys! What I made with my June 2020 Suite Sampler Box!

I really love this month's Suite Sampler! Based around the Come Sail Away papers from the 2019-2020 Stampin' Up main catalog, this suite was AWESOME to work with. Everything pulled together SO easily. I was able to create a bunch of scrapbook layouts and seven different cards in a couple of 1-2 hour sessions. I can't wait to see what the rest of you Suite Sampler subscribers do with YOUR boxes!

What is a Suite Sampler subscription box? Well, basically, I do a little shopping for you! Each month I use the box contents to create about 15 projects, both cards and pages, to show what you can do with a well-designed, color coordinated selection of Stampin' Up products.

The Suite Sampler is NOT A KIT-- although I do love to prep headlines, make "page candy" and die cut all sorts of fun things in advance for you. A sweet new stamp set and punch bundle has caught my eye! Posted for You is a brand new set designed to look like postage stamps, with a fun Rectangular Postage Stamp punch. I love the cute samples made with it in the new 2020-2021 Stampin' Up catalog, so I sat down and made them the very day my box arrived!

I didn't have the Old Olive patterned papers, so instead I used the new Tasteful Textile embossing folder with some Whisper White craft ink rubbed on it to bring out the texture.

Other than that substitution, I pretty much tried to make it exactly. It was like a game! What a good way to get familiar with new stamps and test out a new punch.

For the second card, I got to try out a brand new color, Misty Moonlight. What a beautiful new blue!

I love this simple design so much! I think it will be all my birthday cards this month. It was super easy, too. Here's the supply list, if you'd like to recreate this card at home, too!

Catalog walk thru with stamping sprinkled in!

I'm posting some of the things we made that day here so you can view them up close a little better. Be sure to pin any ideas or layouts you want to save for later!

Here's some highlights from our five sessions that day.

We learned to use the new Lovely Labels Pick a Punch, which makes six different tags sizes in two different designs. So fun! Then we recreated the sample card from page 22, in a gorgeous color combo of Night of Navy, Bumble Bee, Gray Granite and Petal Pink. There are so many fun new color combos in this catalog!

This adorable baby card from page 47 was a blast to make by first watercoloring, then tinting our embossing paste for a really cool, textural background. It was supposed to have glitter mixed in, but I forgot! Oopsie! I love the mix of easy samples for beginners and those of us in a hurry--and plenty of more advanced cards with lots of details.

We also talked about how to spot versatile layouts throughout the catalog that will work with lots of different stamp sets. We made the cute card on page 55 after breaking down the layout and color combo. I don't have Zoo Globe (yet) but we made do with Inspiring Iris.

We walked through making this Ornate Frames card while discussing the TWO brand new Stampin' Up die-cutting and embossing machines that are coming out this fall! We can't wait!! We dubbed them the Big Mama and the Baby Mini : ) Stay tuned for a date, coming soon!

One of our last projects during the walk through was this Tasteful Touches card. I don't think this stamp is a capable of making a bad card! And all it is is Night of Navy cardstock and ink, and Very Vanilla cardstock. It doesn't get any less expensive than that to make your own cards at home. WOW!

After we got through the entire catalog start to finish in three sessions, we ended the day with a recap of all the basic techniques featured in the book (shared in another post), and then a relaxing session of stamping with one of my new favorite bundles. You'll have to watch the final session to see what it is!
