This adorable pink, mint green and blue Christmas color combo is too cute! I usual head for more serious religious Christmas cards, and they tend to use more sober and simple color schemes, but for holiday scrapbook pages, anything goes! Bring on the bling, crazy textured ribbons, and non-traditional combos.

Wow! Well, I can't say I'm sorry August 2021 is over... I've got a busy fall ahead of me, whipping the new studio into shape for classes. But I've really missed cardmaking! And Sept first we start our first Christmas cards of the year!

31 Pages in 31 Days: grateful & blessed, Day Thirty

Today's inspiration layout holds the distinction of being started in my home craft room and finished in my new studio downtown! I hated to pack it up before it was done, and it took me several days to get unpacked to the point where I could stamp again, but we made it! And we've almost made it to the end of the challenge series, 31 Pages in 31 Days.

Tomorrow I'll share my final final count for the year! I purposefully have not been keeping a running total because I want to be surprised, too!

I drew my color inspiration for this layout from a floral out of the Hand-Penned Petals. I chose richer versions of the pastel tones so it wouldn't be too light and feminine looking. Added some twine, brushed metallic cardstock and brushed metallic dots for texture, and sentiments from the Ornate Thanks stamp set.

31 Pages in 31 Days: yearbook club, Day Twenty-nine

Hi everyone! Thanks for joining me for Day 29 of 31 Pages in 31 Days! Every day during August 2021 I'm posting an inspiration layout here on the blog. You can play along with the challenge or just enjoy pinning ideas for later. We're almost finished with this year's scrapbooking series, but I hope you'll subscribe to my free once a week papercafting newsletter, and stick around for all the fun!

Today's page (the first made in my brand new studio!) celebrates four years of yearbook for my daughter. She loves it, and I love that she is gaining valuable computer, writing and design skills! I am proud of her for sticking with it even during busy times when it would have been easy to quit.

She has talked a bunch of her friends into joining, so this page has space for all of them individually, plus a few group photos. She can fill in as many squares as needed and leave the rest blank, or journal in them. If you want to recreate this look, the squares are 3.5 inches and the longer, two-panel rectangles are 7.25 by 3.5 inches.

I used all kinds of leftover paper for this spread, so I'm just going to link to Stampin' Up's paper collections and call it a win! If you are like me and HAVE to have color coordination, and INSIST on quality, heavy cardstock and acid-free adhesives, you can't go wrong with Stampin' Up.

31 Pages in 31 Days: with thanksgiving, Day Twenty-eight

Welcome to 31 Pages in 31 Days, my annual scrapbooking blog series each August! Have you been playing along? This year has been challenging! And today's page has the distinction of being the last project I made in my old stamp room. Everything from here on forward comes from the new studio downtown! Soooo exciting!

You know what else is exciting? FALL!!! I can't wait for autumn, and after a roasty-hot and humid summer like the one we've had, I wouldn't mind if it arrived ASAP! I was definitely dreaming of cooler temps as I pulled together this colorful page. The only thing that likes humidity this bad is CORN!

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. The colors of fall are just scrummy! I started this page with sheets of paper from the Beauty of the Earth pack, adding multiple colors of mats in Cajun Craze, Night of Navy, Mossy Meadow and Cinnamon Cider. The accents are copper and twine, with the Sprig Punch for a fun little border adding texture.

31 Pages in 31 Days: gifts of Christmas, Day Twenty-seven

Believe it or not, this is MORE free paper! I am feeling super thrifty these days! The Peaceful Prints paper pack is one of the 12x12 choices you can earn with any $50 order during Stampin' Up's Sale-A-Bration this month and next. It's the perfect time to order some basics and treat yourself to paper patterns you will love!

I used the Garden Green and black and white plaid patterned tree paper along with black and Granite Gray mats and gold foil accents, and it turned out stunning! I was amazed at how the papers, which feel a little bit country, turned into something really elegant when it all came together. The snowflakes are all from the AMAZING So Many Snowflakes die set, which has all the snowflake sizes you could ever want, and goes with all your holiday stamp sets.

Once again a stamp set (Inspired Thoughts) provided the perfect headline and accents for a layout. I love using my stamps in scrapbooking! It's kind of funny how that doesn't occur to some people. Pages are just a slightly larger canvas than a card base, after all. Are you a scrapper-only? Or strictly a cardmaker? If you've got the stuff to do one, you've got everything you need to do the other. Give it a try!

31 Pages in 31 Days: first birthday foxes, Day Twenty-six

Welcome back to 31 Pages in 31 Days! If you've been following along, you know I've been posting an inspiration layout every day for the past 25 days--as I have in August every year for numerous years! If you're new to this annual scrapbooking challenge, treat yourself to a scroll down memory lane and pin ideas for the next time you have a little space to sit down and scrap.

Speaking of space... today's post will be short! My craft room is entirely in boxes, bags and bins... next step is to move all the furniture over to the new studio so I have somewhere to put the contents of all those boxes when they get there, too! I am sore but happy today after a looooong day spent cleaning.

BUT! We do have an inspiration page, and it's a cutie! I trimmed out the little funny foxes from a sheet of Penguin Playmates paper (free during Sale-A-Bration 2021!) and used them on this Baby's First Birthday page.

The background paper with the little pine trees is also from that free pack, isn't it sweet? It will be perfect for Christmas projects, too.

To play up the woodland theme, I added Early Espresso paper embossed with the Bark folder, and wads of Linen Thread (my favorite twine) as a little nest. Together with Pear Pizzazz and Cinnamon Cider cardstock, the texture adds interest to the page without overwhelming the photos.

31 Pages in 31 Days: About to Begin, Day Twenty-five

Ahhh! Have you hit that point in your life where all newlyweds strike you as total babies? Like there's no way they can possibly be old enough to get married??? Never mind that I was 20 when I got married?! That was totally different!

We've had a bunch of weddings this summer and goodness, these kids are only a couple of years older than mine. A girl from Dan's class just got engaged. I am NOT ready for that part! I'm still wrapping my mind around the fact that Natalie started her Senior year last week!

Today's inspiration page for 31 Pages in 31 Days (we're still on track! woot woot!) is for one of those weddings... mixed metallics and shades of gray and white keep it classy and simple, with the focus on the couple.

I pulled a sentiment from the Best Chapter stamp set for my headline piece. This is a really cute set with all sorts of interchangeable banners to make it fit all sorts of occasions--wedding, retirement, graduation, new baby, etc. If I ever get a darn minute I'll play with it some more and share some card ideas, too!

This layout was made with more of the Beautifully Penned freebie paper, with the addition of some Simply Elegant foil-embossed specialty papers, and a tiny dotted strip print from the hostess-exclusive Pattern Party stack. So basically, I emptied my scrap bin and found some good stuff, is what I'm saying!

The giant dahlia stamps (also free during Sale-A-Bration 2021!) are hand cut, in case you're wondering... and no, I didn't die! I needed a large flower to balance this strong layout, and they hold their own. Little flowers would have been lost.

Ok, I'm off to pick up the key and start unloading a bunch of cleaning stuff into the new studio! I need to make a "before" post so you guys can appreciate how we plan to transform the somewhat dark and dated space into a light, bright place bursting with creativity and color.

What an exciting day! If I'm late for tomorrow's Day 26 post, you'll know I either accidentally packed up what I needed for the page, the photography or the blogging-- or I am passed out with exhaustion from running around like the Energizer Bunny moving boxes I shouldn't be lifting. Ooopsie!

31 Pages in 31 Days: grateful for you, Day Twenty-four

Super quick post from me today--things are HOPPIN' around here! This is the week we get the key to our new studio and I have sooo much to do. Today I need to pick out the paint! Eeek! That means I have to make a choice!!

Today's inspiration page was created in advance so I don't miss a post. Wouldn't want to leave you hangin'! I know you're just waiting with bated breath for Lyssa to post her next masterpiece! Hahaha!

Returned to the Beauty of the Earth paper pack for the beautiful watercolored tree borders. The base papers are from the In Good Taste stack, as is the little strips of burlap print. I pulled the color scheme from the watercoloring and went with Soft Suede, Merry Merlot, Misty Moonlight and Crumb Cake for my colors. Love the Brushed Metallic Dots adding just a hint of antique brass to the mix.

"Grateful" is right.... its easy to be in a thankful season right now, with exciting new projects and meeting lots of new friends. But this page is actually for the quiet Thanksgiving we had last year after we all made it through covid together. We were truly grateful to be "alone together" that year, separated from family and friends. There is ALWAYS something to be thankful for! But yeah... let's hope this year is very different!

31 Pages in 31 Days: Penguin Party, Day Twenty-three

Ahhh! I love this page! I hope you get a kick out of it, too. Welcome back to 31 Pages in 31 Days 2021, edition! Every year during August I take the entire month to immerse myself in scrapbooking--mess-making without guilt--and then put it away September first with a smile on my face, knowing I got a TON done. It makes my heart happy... especially when I make cute pages like these!

I had help with these, in the form of FREE paper from Stampin' Up! Penguin Playmates is covered with adorable arctic animals (so trendy right now!) and one perfect for one of the many "snow day" pages I have to make as a Wisconsin mom. I tell ya, if I had to pick two scrapbook pages to represent my kids' childhood, it would be the free zoo, and snow days!

So the papers have this cute color scheme of Fresh Freesia, Misty Moonlight, Soft Sea Foam and Just Jade. I really like the arctic animals, but I'll tell you, when I flipped those papers over and saw the patterns on the back, I was smitten! So putting the page together was as simple as cutting out some of the animals to pop up here and there on the page. They are so sweet! They'd be so cute on a Baby's First Year book or a toddler birthday page. I'm planning to make penguin cards for all my Christmas thank-yous this year (see the pre-cut notecards that make it sooo easy!). The Penguin Playmates papers coordinate with the new Penguin Builder punch and the stinkin' cute Penguin Place stamp set, too. Come to think of it, I might need to make sure I get another pack!

31 Pages in 31 Days: me & boo, Day Twenty-two

Today's inspiration layout for 31 Pages in 31 Days is a shameless plug for my annual Halloween crafting series! Every year my BFF assistant Penni and I do several posts on crafts for October. There will be spooky scrapbook pages, a wicked cute wreath, kooky classroom treats, and frightfully punny pop up cards! You can look back through the Archives at past Octobers to see a wealth of easy tutorials and clever ideas from years' past.

After I got this page done, I realized I missed an opportunity to have the headline read "me & boo" instead of "me & you." That would have been cute! But I think I did pretty well considering I don't have any Halloween-specific supplies right now. But you can do a lot with just color and the suggestion of a theme, right? And I found one tiny "boo" stamp in an all-occasion set and pressed that into service.

A White craft ink pad swiped across the surface of the page is a great way to add the suggestion of dusty cobwebs, as well as tone down stark black or too-bright orange. In fact, a white craft ink pad is a super-useful tool for scrapbookers. You can easily highlight embossed pieces, age or antique for a vintage look, or simply sponge a light layer over a color that doesn't quite coordinate with the more subtle intensity of the rest of the page. Welcome to Day 21 of 31 Pages in 31 Days! I took a break from packing last night and had some fun adding color to the new black and white paper pack you can get free right now during Sale-A-Bration 2021. At first I was going to just add the Fresh Freesia light lavender color, but I ended up with Balmy Blue and Pale Papaya as well. Light and springy!

31 Pages in 31 Days: autumn afternoon, Day Twenty

We're officially 2/3 of the way done with our annual blog series! 31 Pages in 31 Days is speeding by. Join me for the immersion scrapbooking challenge as we leave our stuff OUT and work on it without guilt in August! We'll pack it all away at the end and feel immense satisfaction at what we were able to accomplish.

Today is the 20th and here are the inspiration pages!

I totally adore fall, so this page makes me happy with the color combo of Cajun Craze, Cinnamon Cider, So Saffron and Crumb Cake with Early Espresso. The Beauty of the Earth papers with their watercolored seasonal themes had these gorgeous sheets for autumn, and made the color selection a breeze.

I stumbled upon a happy combination of the Stitched Leaves dies and the Playful Alphabet Dies and created these cool headline piece I really like. Wrapping it with hemp twine really helps it pop, too.

I still had the Bark embossing folder out on my desk from yesterday's page, so I cut some one-inch strips and made a really textural photo frame with it. I love the Brushed Metallic Dots for the "nails" in the corners!

Love all that beautiful interest added by the leaf groupings here and there. Such a great way to spread color across the two pages.

That's it from me! Today has been an exciting day... the lease was officially signed this afternoon, insurance kicked in today, and the keys will be handed over next week. Then we can start moving all the chairs, tables, shelves and other things I've been collecting out of my parents' garage.

Then the REAL work begins! Somehow I have to pack up my entire stamp room, which, small though it is, holds an enormous amount of stuff! Maybe I'll have to have a rummage sale in the new studio right away. I am bound to unearth all kinds of treasures as I empty all my closets and cupboards, for sure!

31 Pages in 31 Days: winter walk Day Nineteen

As much as I'd like it to be a little less hot, I'm glad the snowy chill in my craft room was only on paper this week! I got to use the gorgeous Beauty of the Earth papers and my brand new Starlit punch from Stampin' Up to make this cool layout. I like how the Early Espresso (embossed with the new Bark embossing folder) warms up the Night of Navy and Misty Moonlight blues.

I can't wait to have some time to play more with that punch bundle and design some Christmas cards. Right now I'm doing good just to get a page made! I can't wait to get everything moved into the new studio and organized so I can get to work!

I used a lot of fun FREE stuff on this layout! The black and white striped background papers are from the Beautifully Penned pack you can get free with any $50 order during August-Sept 2021. It has 4 double-sided patterns and 12 sheets, all black and white. You can add color or use them as-is!

The sparkly silver sequin cardstock is from another pack that is free with a $50 order, Be Dazzlin', 6x6 with 8 sheets. I just love it. And you can color that any color you want as well, with alcohol-based markers such as Stampin' Blends or Sharpies. How fun is that?

Look at the pretty color palette for this spread... It was really fun to work with such a girly scheme. Very convenient to start with black and white and add color as preferred. We scrapbookers love paper that is really versatile like that!

31 Pages in 31 Days: retro anniversary, Day Seventeen

31 Pages in 31 Days... is she crazy? Not yet! But close! I started 31 Pages in 31 Days because August was kind of a slow month for me when my kids were young. That has changed! I've discovered things have not gotten any less busy than when I had littles. It's a different busy (outside the house rather than in it) and more complicated when the kids are teens.

And now I supposedly have a sophomore in college? Right! Fake news!!! I cannot possibly be that old.

Like it or not, time flies! We're already past the halfway point of this month-long blog series, too! Here's today's inspiration page, a 60th wedding anniversary celebration in mixed metals.

I love the mix of copper, gold and silver in this paper. It's fun because you can draw out any of them with Soft Suede (copper), Crumb Cake (gold) or Smoky Slate (silver). Just be sure to throw some diamond rhinestones on if you're doing a 60th anniversary page, too, because that's the official metal/color for that anniversary.

Here's a card I made with this paper, angled so the foil embossing shows off better and accented with copper embossing powder!

All right, I'm moving on from the Simply Elegant suite beginning with tomorrow's post.... so many papers, so little time! Next month for Suite Sampler I'm featuring the Blackberry Harvest suite, so maybe I'll open a pack of that and start playing. It is so fun to "have" to play with all these pretty things for my job! You could totally scrapbook for a living... let's talk about getting you signed up as a Stampin' Up demonstrator during the amazing Starter Kit special this month!

Recently my pastor dad retired from 50 years in the ministry. I thought the Simply Elegant papers with their gorgeous metallic foil accents made for a very sophisticated layout to celebrate that move of faith. This would make a great 50th anniversary layout, too!

I'm making my own leap of faith here this fall and opening a scrapbooking/stamping studio just off Main Street here in Watertown. I am SOOOOOO excited! And I feel very peaceful and calm, because God has just opened amazing doors and provided in truly awesome ways. I can't wait to scrapbook about THAT!

So yeah, watch for an open house in September and a full slate of crops and classes beginning in October! I'll be starting a mailing list for the studio just for people who live close enough to attend events. Hope your name will be on it! Won't we just have a BALL?! Can't wait!

31 Pages in 31 Days: moon rising, Day Fifteen

Hello friends! If you are following along with the blog series 31 Pages in 31 Days, I thank you! I hope you're loving the page inspiration posted every day as I do my annual month of immersion-style scrapbooking.

And if you're strictly a cardmaker--there's plenty of ideas to be found in the page details, but take heart: we'll return to our "normal programming" in September! And I have all new toys from the Stampin' Up Holiday mini catalog to share with you, too!

Today's inspiration layout didn't photograph well... the silver and black were just too much for my camera to know where to focus. But we can still get the idea as we walk through the various elements. The paper is from the Simply Elegant specialty pack and dusk or twilight time in the evening was my target. That pretty time of day when everything goes silver, and you can see the moon rising, just before night steals the last of the light.

My favorite part of this layout, besides that gorgeous cream and black leaf print pattern, is the Sprig Punch. I use that thing ALL the time! It's just such a fast way to add textured detail, and easier and quicker to use than a die. I use it for wreaths, swags, photo corners, vine border edges, and of course to make punched or stamped flowers pop with dimension. I've even used it to make "seaweed." So versatile.

One good thing is that my thumb/wrist finally seems to have turned a corner and started getting better instead of worsening! I am so happy! A bum wrist on the dominant hand of a girl who crafts for a living is a real downer!

31 Pages in 31 Days: New Year's Eve, Day Fourteen

Howdy, friends! Thanks for stopping by to see Day Fourteen of 31 Pages in 31 Days! Tomorrow is the half-way point of the month already, wow! Time has just flown by. I am proud of the pages we've accomplished so far for this challenge! We may not hit 31 but anything is better than none, right?

Today's inspiration layout is a spread from my Suite Sampler inspiration gallery this month. The featured Suite was Simply Elegant and the gorgeous metallic-embossed papers were a delight to play with. Everything just came together gorgeously because it's all neutrals and metallics.

Just love this paper pack. I can't wait to sit down and replenish my wedding and anniversary cards with these gorgeous prints. Do you make cards, too, or are you strictly a scrapper? I mostly make cards these days, but scrapbooking will always have my heart!

31 Pages in 31 Days: Amazing Things, Day Thirteen

Today's inspiration page says "we did amazing things" and it's just perfect for one of those "pinch me, is this real?" trips or experiences. Those moments when you're like, "did that just happen?" are so special, you want to preserve them forever so you don't forget how fun it was.

Sometimes it happened so fast you don't have time to take pictures, so this page has plenty of built-in journaling spots so you can tell the story. I sure love these Memories & More cards--they help me remember to journal! And I can have as much or as little journaling as I want by changing out the size of the cards or even cutting them.

Just love the soft gray and buttery yellow on this spread, paired with nice bright white daisies, a tiny bit of vellum lace doily and some satin ribbon to keep it classy. Obviously you can tell those are my favorite colors, just from peeking at this blog! It's also the colors of my new couch and loveseat, yay me!! There's a furniture store retiring here in town and he made me a deal I couldn't refuse. We are looking forward to less back pain from our broken down one, and freshening up of a room I've really neglected since covid.

I love having the funds to update our furniture! That's all due to my income as a Stampin' Up demonstrator. I'd love to talk about how you could meet your own financial goals by sharing what you already love to do--crafting!
