Yes, it's that time of year already--time to start thinking about your Christmas cards! Now that we've seen the amazing 2021 Holiday mini catalog and all our fabulous choices, we need layout and color combo inspiration! I've been sharing my designs this year in batches of three, all designed to be easy to mass-produce at the holidays. Feel free to copy them outright, or take the inspiration and make it your own!
Our first card is the Three Wise Men from the Great Tidings bundle. I love the gorgeously detailed frame from the coordinating dies, sooo pretty! Our color scheme was Crumb Cake, Copper and Blackberry Bliss. I made these cards for my Christmas Club so I had to keep the foil cardstock to a minimum, but if you were to make them on your own, I think doing the whole ornate frame in the copper foil would be amazing!
Our next card is completely different, sparkly and vintage-inspired, yet still very elegant. Stamps are so versatile!
The Stars Are Shining bundle is a great choice for making a lot of Christmas cards because it comes with a punch! While I didn't use the punch at all on this particular card, it gives you lots of options to mix and match flat and raised ornaments and stars. My color combo was Merry Merlot, Bermuda Bay, Pool Party and Smoky Slate along with silver glitter paper, pearls and rhinestones.
I think the sky is the limit for this one if you love non-traditional color combos!
The last card for our post today is yet again completely different in style and tone from the others. I love making a big variety of cards--I never get bored that way! Do you like to make just one design, or lots of them?
LOVE the natural images in the Christmas Season stamp set from the Painted Christmas suite in the holiday mini catalog. It is just really hard to make a bad card with this set, because all the twigs and branches and sprigs and berries coordinate so well. You just start with a general direction (border, swag, corner, spray, etc) and add greenery elements until it feels lush! Then add a couple of pinecones and a natural box of Linen Thread, and it's done.
I used Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Evening Evergreen and Early Espresso for my inks. I think if I had to pick one set for Christmas this year, this one would be a great choice simply because of the sheer number of options you'd have and the potential for great masculine cards year round, too. Add a little plaid paper or ribbon and it would be totally country and cute!
Wow! How different each of these cards are, yet all are easy to make and don't require a lot of supplies. I hope you're already getting inspired for your own Christmas card-making this year!
I love making pretty backgrounds with my new Blending Brushes, or sponges with a dab of glycerin, or alcohol markers or spritzing. It's so easy to make custom looks because each one turns out totally different! That's what makes it art.
Recently I shared in a Facebook Live how to turn any line-art image (the kind you normally would color in) into a silhouette image instead, for a totally different look and a new lease on life! Stamps are soooo versatile. You will love having this trick up your sleeve. I was searching the shelves for old favorites to try this new technique on!
There's three fun silhouette card ideas in this video that you can do with stamps and a Sharpie, or with die-cuts cut out in Basic Black cardstock. I even was able to come up with a Halloween card even though I don't have any actual Halloween stamps in my stash!

I was really excited to dive into the Peaceful Place suite for October's Suite Sampler box inspiration. It is just so PRETTY! I only made four different scrapbook pages plus 6 cards with my box this month--but if I had time I could have made dozens! I hope to get some time during today's Open Scrap/Stamp Night at the studio to continue playing. It was so easy to pull gorgeous cards together because of the perfect color coordination.
For access to the full Suite Sampler gallery plus samples uploaded by subscribers each month, click here (it's a free private Facebook group!) Click on Albums, and you'll see two new albums each month. One for scrapbooking fans, and one for cardmakers!
I hear you asking....
What on earth is a Suite Sampler subscription box? Well, basically, I do a little shopping for you! I put together a generous, color-coordinated sampling of products including papers, cardstock, trims and embellishments based around one of Stampin' Up's suites, and mail it to you Priority Mail by the 15th of each month. I work hard on these boxes-- I want you to say WOW--every month!
Each month I use the box contents to create about 15 projects, both cards and pages, to show what you can do with yours! There are no stamps or ink included, so you can either work with what you already own, or decide if you want to purchase the coordinating stamp set and/or dies to go with it all. The flexibility stays in YOUR hands!
The Suite Sampler is NOT A KIT-- your box will be FULL of fun parts and pieces that match with the style and colors of the patterned papers, plus FULL sheets of 12x12 and 8.5 x 11 to coordinate. You can use my inspiration samples as a guide, or set out on your own and see where the mojo takes you!
My Suite Samplers save you TONS of money--because you won't have to purchase full packs of anything in order to try it all! You'll get to enjoy trying out all sorts of suites without a massive investment--and you'll LOVE the shot of mojo every month that a brand new box of irresistibly pretty papers and colors will give you.

We made this pretty, simple card at my open house for the new studio. Everyone loved putting their own spin on it--some left it black and white, some added a pop of color, others colored the whole thing! I did a quick Facebook Live video of how it comes together and some little tips. Watch it and play along with me!
The actual project starts at 1:30 with the measurements.
Enjoy this versatile layout with coordinating stamps and papers of your own! But I have quite a lot of this Beautifully Penned paper, if you missed out on this past Sale-A-Bration exclusive. Email me if you're interested via mail, or stop by the studio's Rummage Rack for a bargain! Lyssa@songofmyheartstampers.com
Join us on Friday night OR Saturday morning for a card class that includes the gorgeous Delicate Dahlias stamp set for just $15!
We'll be making three cards plus a bonus project all using this beautiful flower image set with a variety of coloring and stamping techniques. Keep it simple or step it up--it's your call!
New to stamping? It's easy and soooo fun! Don't worry, we'll show you how. No experience necessary to start!
Here are the lovely images and sayings in this versatile stamp set. Delicate Dahlias is no longer available from Stampin' Up, so now's your last chance to get this gorgeous stamp set from me.
You get to take the stamp set home with you, so you can switch out the sayings and make different versions for birthdays or weddings, too!
Learn a couple of basic layouts in our class that you can customize with any stamps and color combos for years to come! We'll be using the Stampin' Blends alcohol markers for this project.
ALREADY OWN DELICATE DAHLIAS? If you already have Delicate Dahlias, please come anyway! You can swap out the stamp set for any of my Rummage Rack items marked $10 or less.
OUT OF AREA & NEED IT MAILED? If you cannot attend our local class, contact me for a kit and postage estimate! You'll be able to use your own inks with the provided stamp set to make the projects at home.
Isn't this gift bag gorgeous? It's a bonus project in our class! I'm so excited about this weekend's class series. Hope you can make it! Email to me to RSVP to the Friday evening or Saturday morning session, October 15th and 16th, 2021. Lyssa@songofmyheartstampers.com
Totally should be working on my next set of Christmas card designs right now! Instead I'm playing with the squirrel stamps again. I just love these guys (they need names!) and I love the gloriously fall colors they pair so perfectly with.
If the squirrels are going to follow YOU home, here's what I used to make these cards--thanks for shopping with Lyssa!

Hint: if you need a bunch of these, click "add all to cart" and then just delete what you don't need to order. Saves time... and you can play around adding and subtracting until your cart total is comfy : )
Please check before you finalize your order that I am the demonstrator associated with it. There has been a little trouble with it changing to unknown sellers for some of my friends. I would hate for you to think I wasn't thankful for your order, when in fact I never got it in the first place--yikes!
Thanks so much for shopping with me! I am working on earning the Stampin' Up incentive trip again this year! It is a life-long bucket list kind of item--a Baltic States cruise to Copenhagen, Helsinki, Tallin, St. Petersburg and Stockholm! If I earn this trip I will be working on saving enough to add on a couple of days in nearby Prague, since both Mike and I are part Czech.
It is SO FUN to think about getting to go to northern Europe! What a dream that would be. Stampin' Up really knows how to incentivize their team. Wish me luck!
We had such fun this weekend with the first event in my new studio downtown! For World Cardmaking Day I held a free open house and I was so blessed and touched by everyone who came to wish our new adventure well. Neither Penni or I got a head count, but we were never without people from before 10 a.m. when we opened, until after 4 p.m. when we closed.
It is literally a dream come true to see people in this bright and happy space, stamping and shopping!
Now, for this open house I had all my craft fair stuff out as well as my rubber rummage and a large buffet/gifts/drawing area set up. So it may seem a little crowded. Normally it will be much clearer--having worked out of my tiny room all these years, I really prize having plenty of space!
The backdrop for the buffet is hiding the walls behind the areas we tore down! Ran out of time to get those done. I had these two lovely ruffled shower curtains I planned to use for curtains that were perfect to staple up --and provide a backdrop for the party anyway!
Speaking of drawings, let's share the winners! Everyone who came could fill out a door prize slip and stick it in the numbered bucket for the prize they most wished to win.
Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss: Barb Zacher
Mini Personal Paper Cutter: Jerry Kolwinska
Stampin' Up Shoulder Bag: Lorraine Michel
Paper Pumpkin subscription: Margaret Handyside
CONGRATULATIONS to our prize winners!
Extra big thanks to Penni Litwiller, Ruth Stadler and Kathy Neverman for assistance getting the place cleaned and prepped for the party! Ruth especially whipped my overwhelming list down to nothing the night before our event. I have the nicest friends!
The bathroom turned out so cute. We ran into complications replacing the faucet, so that's still on the to-do list, but my mom sewed this adorable pleated skirt for the wall-mount sink. She also hemmed all the curtains--a big help! I love sewing but have needed to concentrate on the painting and cleaning side of things. The fabric touches make everything really homey, though.
One of my favorite parts of the day was when a visitor told me she'd been chatting online with a crafty friend in Australia the next before. The friend told her to "be sure to go to Lyssa's open house tomorrow!" because she's an overseas fan of Song of My Heart! Funny!
Another favorite moment was seeing some of the hubbies in the lobby just chilling out while their wives happily stamped in the classroom. I didn't plan it that way, but I love that we have a comfy spot for the great guys who cheerfully drive their wives to class and hang out patiently while she plays. I will be getting some guy-friendly magazines and crossword/suduku books for that spot, for sure!
This rug is my favorite thing in the studio (besides my stamps!) It is just everything I love all rolled into one.
I walk in to the building and feel a deep sense of satisfaction over the space we have created for crafters in the Watertown area to come and relax and be inspired in their creative endeavors.
It is so worthwhile, to make things with your hands to give to others, to preserve traditions and memories, to give tangible representations of love and encouragement. To celebrate life's big moments, both happy and sad; to make sure occasions don't go un-noted and that people are SEEN and accepted. I love that we do that here.
Ready to think about your Christmas card designs for the year? I've got three more easy-to-mass-produce ideas for you! We made these cards at Christmas Club last month and the ladies loved the variety of styles represented. Which one is your favorite?
Those who love the traditional red and green appreciated this Christmas Season card with the classic pine boughs and pine cones images. The sentiment is from a new set called Heartfelt Wishes--I love the font style! It has sentiments for all your fall and winter occasions as well as classic sayings you'll use all year round.
The Christmas Season bundle comes with dies to cut out the pine boughs, pinecones and several large labels and banners--between that and the nature/masculine uses of the images, I personally think it's one of the most versatile holiday sets you can get!
On to our next design, which is a completely different feel!
It's hard to beat a snowy mountain cabin for setting a cozy scene and bringing up memories of snuggling by a fire. the Peaceful Place suite has a fantastic new stamp set called Peaceful Cabin (get it with or without the coordinating dies) that I've been really enjoying. Add textures for a more natural look, or bling it up with glittered snowbanks for a little glamour.
Ready for another completely different design? Isn't it awesome how versatile stamps are? No matter what your personal style, level of expertise, or available time to create, there's a card idea for you!
For this fancy fold card, we used the best-kept secret weapon in the busy Christmas-cardmaker's tool box--the gorgeous laser-cut iridescent snowflakes from the new Whimsy & Wonder suite collection. I'm seriously like on my 10th package of these and it's only October! It's just so awesome not having to poke out all those little pieces.
They are not only intricate and shiny, you can flip the snowflakes over to the matte side and sponge or color them any shade you like. We used Highland Heather and Balmy Blue ink pads with sponge daubers on this version. I wish it showed up a little better in the photograph, because they are stunning!
There you go--that's nine completely different Christmas looks for the year so far. See the first in this series and the second. It's almost time for another set of three... let that be a warning, fall is moving FAST! If you need help settling on a design for your personal holiday cards this year, contact me! There's something for everyone in this year's mini catalog.
