31 Pages in 31 Days Day Thirty-one! 2022 We made it!

 

Hooray!!! I did it! Another 31 Pages in 31 Days is in the books. Literally!  Thanks for joining me on this journey of immersion scrapbooking every year during the month of August. If you are just coming in on the tail end, (welcome!) I encourage you to scroll back through the last 30 or so posts and enjoy pinning ideas you might be able to use later!

My final inspiration page for this year's series is a cute layout celebrating the fun and friendships of book club. I love the old-fashioned feel that the distressed gold paper on the die-cut photo corners gives the whole spread. It makes the patterned paper (from Rings of Love) feel like wallpaper or the beautiful patterns they used to put inside of book covers.

The theme is further played up by the use of a long tag that resembles a book mark... and the small Just Jade mat on the left page is waiting for a printed list of the books you read in club this year!

Now, are you ready for the final page count???? Drumroll please....

I got sixty-two pages done in August!!! That's crazypants! That's like triple what I manage to get done the rest of the year combined. Folks, that is why immersion scrapbooking works! Set yourself a month--a whole month--and just go to it. Leave the mess out, spread out, work on it every chance you get with NO GUILT (this is important!), and then when the month is done pat yourself on the back, put it all away, and return to normal life.

I encourage you to try it... it might be the answer for you like it has been for me. We've gotta find a way to make room for the beautiful things we enjoy doing for our families and for our own mental health and creativity.

31 Pages in 31 Days Day Thirty! 2022

Ok I'll admit it! I'm glad 31 Pages in 31 Days is coming to an end for 2022. I have NEVER been this behind so regularly in the entire ten year history of this annual blog series! This is the year that almost broke Lyssa!

I'm finally all caught up to today, but I do have to apologize that some of this month's daily posts had to be back-dated so they lined up with the correct date (you may not have even noticed, and in the future no one will know nor care).

But it matters to me, so I'm proud of sticking it out until the end because I really do believe that if scrapbooking is important to us, we have got to find a way to do it. Whether it's month-long immersion scrapping like I do, retreats or crops, or just you plugging away whenever you have a free minute, we're making it happen for ourselves and our families.

Today's pages are more of that gorgeous Abigail Rose collection from Stampin' Up, with the flower accents from the stamp set that coordinates with the suite. I love that rose--it doesn't even have to be colored in, it's so pretty by itself.

I wasn't planning on it, but I wound up with a Petal Pink and Smoky Slate color combo with mixed metallic accents. Somehow it works! The photography color was a little off... I tried adjusting it but me and Photoshop aren't friends. So you'll just have to take my word for it that the page coordinates better in real life than online!

I worked in some of the free Sale-A-Bration 2022 Silver Foil 6x6 paper pack, some of this gorgeous striped Rose Gold ribbon, and Copper foil cardstock lettering. Then some Adhesive Gems & Sequins jumped on the page. It just wanted to be blingy and there was nothing I could do!

Ok, I'm off to the studio this afternoon to work on the very last spread for this year's series! I can't thank you enough for playing along. Every single like, comment, share, shop and subscribe is important to me. Too many people online take, take, take and never give, and that's not true of Song of My heart fans. Every interaction is positive and encouraging, and I love you for it.

31 Pages in 31 Days Day Twenty-nine! 2022

Our inspiration layout for Day Twenty-Nine (almost done!!) celebrates a new office move/remodel. It's fun to document a change in the place you spend so much of your waking hours, your favorite coworkers, and the little ways you make it your space.

I always think it's fun to learn what an ancestor did as their profession (except that one ancestor who apparently was a horse thief!) If you get a chance to scrapbook about what you do for a living, it will make a really great heirloom when the album gets passed down the line. 

I didn't have very many "office" themed embellishments handy, so I made my own motif with thin strips of metallic paper "nailed" down with the matching metallic dots (in my case, copper.) And because the overall feel is more masculine, there's no bows or twine on this page--just a plain ribbon laid flat and trimmed into points.

Would you believe these tiny geometric and ledger-print papers are from the Abigail Rose pack? It's not all roses! I pulled the houndstooth pattern from the He's the Man suite.

31 Pages in 31 Days Day Twenty-eight! 2022

Hello everyone! Welcome back to 31 Pages in 31 Days, my annual scrapbooking immersion blog series! Every day in August 2022 I'm posting an inspiration layout for you to see the possibilities for using your Stampin' Up supplies to make fun pages for your family photos.

Today's inspiration layout is another fun non-traditional Christmas spread, this one in a combo of black and white with Shaded Spruce, Flirty Flamingo and Coastal Cabana.

The background papers (from Celebrate Everything by Stampin' Up) are hand colored by yours truly! They started off black and white, and the cute scribbly style of artwork made me want to color in the trees. So I spent a very satisfying 10 minutes adding my chosen colors in with Stampin' Blends markers in these colors.

It was fun to just play up the whimsical feel with some scraps of glitter paper and punches and keep a casual layout for this one. I used the new Halloween washi tape set in glitter black for one of the fastest and easiest photo frames ever!

I am getting so much more good out of the In Color 6x6 Ombre Glimmer Paper stack than I ever dreamed! It's just the right size to cut out headlines, and I can get totally different looks if I use only the darker or lighter ends of each pieces. Below, the word "merry" is cut from red Sweet Sorbet glimmer paper, but the light end, so it matches my Flirty Flamingo pink perfectly. Fun!

I promise I know how to make traditional red and green Christmas pages : ) I just really haven't dug in to Christmas papers yet this year. Plus I have a ton of scraps from Scrapbooking Summer School packet prep to use up and they're all laying out where I can see them and get inspired. So you get what you get!

31 Pages in 31 Days Day Twenty-seven! 2022

Today's inspiration layout for 31 Pages in 31 Days is so bright and happy! I used the daisy punch for some easy accents, and the Biggest Wish stamp set for a quick headline. Have you seen this trick yet? If you have a stamped word or phrase that is not big enough to be a headline on it's own, you can stamp it several times across and then join it with the matching marker. Just another way to use stamps in your scrapbooking!

This paper (from the gorgeous Awash in Beauty pack) has a lot of colors you can draw from, but I chose the brightest ones to play up the summer feel. They are Polished Pink, Crushed Curry, Old Olive and a little bit of parakeet Party and Sweet Sorbet glimmer paper. It is fun, busy and bright! About as different from yesterday's subdued elegance as it is possible to get.

I think I'll beat last year's, just because I haven't needed to do as many single pages this year, mostly spreads. We'll see! 31 Pages in 31 Days Day Twenty-six! 2022

Today's inspiration layout for the 31 Pages in 31 Days challenge is a memorial layout in beautiful shades of purple. I handcut flowers from the Wonderful World paper pack (free with any $100 order, while supplies last!) to embellish it simply and elegantly.

A spread like this has room for journaling, the little memorial service booklet from the funeral home, and the cards included with the floral arrangements, too. It is a lovely memorial to a hard day in the life of a family. Do you scrapbook funerals? So often some of the best family pictures come from the mini-reunion a memorial usually draws.

The inspiration layout for today, Day 25, is some cute papers from the Celebrate Everything pack. I know, I know, I have used those a LOT this month! But there truly is a paper or two for every occasion or holiday all year round in that stack. You can get this hostess-only paper free with any $150 order when you shop for Stampin' Up with Lyssa.

I used my fave new Alphabest stamps and punch bundle again for this headline, this time with a stamped border as variation. You can spread the letters far apart or as close together as you need to get the title to fit where you want it to go. Nifty! And the best thing is, the lettering is not too large to use on cards, too. So it really is a super versatile bundle.

Love pages that help me use up a ton of scraps! I was able to create this spread from one sheet of 12x12 striped and one sheet of Basic Black, and the rest of the papers and cardstock came entirely from the scrap bin! Makes me feel very thrifty.

31 Pages in 31 Days Day Twenty-four! 2022

 

Oh my... I'm so behind it's embarrassing! But I have the best excuse... it's back to school week at our house! Or rather, it will be this weekend. Natalie goes back Friday and Daniel moves into the dorms Saturday. Things are bananas around here and you can't move except to trip over piles of clothing an bedding, and bulk-size boxes of snacks!!

Miraculously, scrapbooking is still getting done in the nooks and crannies! Although I briefly considered ending the challenge today, I will admit. I guess we'll see what happens. I am still really happy with the number of pages I've managed to pile up in #31pagesin31days. 

Today's inspiration layout is to celebrate those Christmas pajamas! There's space for a group photos and individual ones, or multiple years' worth. I had a lot of fun with the crazy colors in the Celebrate Everything paper pack from Stampin' Up.

The left page of this layout can also be a stand-alone page if that's all you need. My favorite part of this spread is the long headline. If you are trying to say something long, the Alphabest stamp and punch bundle is the way to go! I really like that it has not only the whole alphabet but also numbers and punctuation.

What I made with my August 2022 Suite Sampler box!

I had a lot of fun with the August 2022 Suite Sampler, based around the lovely watercolored blooms in Awash in Beauty. It was the perfect summer palette of greens, blues and pinks with a tiny bit of yellow, coral and wine accents for depth and variety. I made six scrapbook pages and nine cards and I still have paper left over to play with. 

Here's some of my favorite pieces using this Suite Sampler!

Depending on which pattern you picked to use, you can pull out different colors to emphasize. I love that the deepest shade on this page matched perfectly with Rich Razzleberry. This is also one of those paper packs that you can cut out flowers from the sheets and use them as built-in page accents. So much texture!!

I haven't played much with Balmy Blue lately (I tend to lean towards the turquoise side of blue) so that was fun to break out of my rut a little bit. Love it when a new pack of patterned paper makes you stretch your color combining skills!

Even more than the pretty paper, though, the dies from this suite just inspired me no end! There are so many ways to use the lattice piece, from tone-on-tone texture to full-on glam gold. You will definitely be seeing more from me using this die. Totally easy elegance.

31 Pages in 31 Days Day Twenty-three! 2022

I love the worn textures of today's 31 Pages in 31 Days inspiration layout! The background papers are from the Design A Daydream pack from Stampin' Up, and the Texture Chic papers are providing the wood-look shabby chic style.

If you are new to Song of My Heart, we're winding up our annual scrapbooking blog series this week, and will returning to "regular programming" (aka cardmaking mostly) on September 1st!

I used one of the big lattice-weave pieces from the coordinating Chic dies, cut in the new Distressed Gold paper, and cut it into three pieces to scatter gleaming texture around the layout. The gold Brushed Metallic Dots and a matching gold paper clip really play it up, too!

31 Pages in 31 Days Day Twenty-two! 2022

Ahhh, I am so pleased with the giant stack of pages already completed this month! Is yours growing, too? If you're playing along with my annual blog series, 31 Pages in 31 Days, I bet that stack is already tall enough to fall over!

I love immersion scrapbooking--no guilt, just a glorious mess for four weeks every August, and then I promise to clean up and get on with life. : ) You should try it!

Today's inspiration layout features one of my fave new color combos--Rich Razzleberry, Blackberry Bliss, Mossy Meadow and Pear Pizzazz. Two shades of gorgeous purple and two shades of green. It was inspired by the Awash in Beauty paper pack from Stampin' Up, and the headline came from one of my favorite sets of the moment, Good Feelings.

I've been really into hand-cutting lately. It's been good to have my right wrist back!!! If you are new, I've been dealing with undiagnosed, untreated tenosynovitis in my dominant hand for years. I still have to put the brace back on a couple of times a week, and I wear it as a preventative when doing anything strenuous like vaccuuming or pushing a grocery cart, but for the most part it is healed up and my thumb fits in scissors again. It's nice not to be QUITE so awkward : )

31 Pages in 31 Days Day Twenty-One! 2022

I'm sorry, I've gotten a little behind here! it is not from lack of having pages done to share with you, however. It's from lack of time to blog about them! Today's inspiration layouts (there are two single pages) were created using this month's Suite Sampler (my subscription box of Stampin' Up goodies!!) which featured Awash in Beauty.

This page is for an 8x10 photo I found in the back of a photo frame when I went to change out the picture. One more baby photo to scrapbook! I thought I was all done with those (until the next generation!) but it was fun to make one more page.

The second single page layout today is the cover page for an album. It's not 100% finished... I think I'm going to add to the headline so it says "generations of joy." I am blessed to have some precious 4-generation photos that will fit perfectly.

That Awash with Beauty paper is really something special... I can't wait to show you tomorrow's pages!! You'll just have to pop back in for Day Twenty-Two and check them out for yourself. I really like how the watercolored effect gives you so many ranges of the colors you can pick from to play up. And this paper had some amazing sheets for hand-cutting flowers and leaves to layer on cards and pages, too.

Today is the last day of my Scrapbooking Summer School class, and I saved my favorite layout for last! I hope they love it. I was inspired by the lovely seagull-patterned paper from the Design A Daydream paper pack from Stampin' Up, plus a big stack of wide scrap strips of Crumb Cake that I was trying to find a use for. it worked out pretty well!

I used a sweet new stamp set called Let's Set Sail for my sentiment. It coordinates with the adorable Sailboat punch to make the cutest card and page elements.

I decorate for all the showers at our church, and I can't wait to have a little nautical themed party sometime! This punch will make the invites, favors and banner all match perfectly. Too cute!

31 Pages in 31 Days Day Nineteen! 2022

Hello everyone! Welcome back to 31 Pages in 31 Days, my annual scrapbooking immersion blog series! Every day in August 2022 I'm posting an inspiration layout for you to see the possibilities for using your Stampin' Up supplies to make gorgeous heirloom album pages that will bring your family joy for many years to come. Memory-keeping is sooo important!

Today's pages are from Scrapbooking Summer School, which ends tomorrow. Our two weeks has flown by! I'm already jotting down plans for next year.

This page reminds me of the Grinch that Stole Christmas, don't you think? I might hunt up a greeting card or print out a Grinch to peek out from the line of trees. I took my color scheme from the super cute & colorful Celebrate Everything papers printed with vintage ornaments in Pacific Point, Granny Apple Green, Real Red, Polished Pink, Shaded Spruce and Daffodil Delight.

I personally love the Brights color family and think ANY color can be a Christmas color if it's accessorized right! But I'm sure there are some of you cringing right now : )

The precut leaves made quick work of my headline, combine with some stamps! And the deep amber gems that come with them are the perfect accent.

I like the addition of black in the fall palette that I'm seeing in stores this year. It makes a great foil for the gorgeously vibrant tones... and it matches the black and white buffalo plaid pattern I am still in love with even though it's no longer on trend! Who cares, right?

My whole fam is going back to school this month... but mine is the most fun because it's Scrapbooking Summer School : ) Mike already began inservice, Dan moves into the dorm next Friday, and I'll be hanging out with Natalie for freshman reg all weekend! I can't believe I'm the mom of two college kids now. How did THAT happen?

I'll admit I'm looking forward to a bit of routine returning to life, however!

31 Pages in 31 Days Day Sixteen! 2022

 

Welcome to Day Sixteen of 31 Pages in 31 Days, my annual scrapbooking blog series each August! Every day I post an inspiration page and you can pull the layout, color combo or embellishment details, or copy the whole thing exactly! Here's today's pages, which we're making in Scrapbooking Summer School today.

Today's layout celebrates your girlfriends! It is perfect for photos printed in sepia brown or black and white. That's a favorite trick of mine for making your pages look more cohesive when everyone is wearing wildly different colored shirts. It just removes the distraction and places the emphasis on their faces. Little tip for you!

Big variety of tools employed for this one! I used my e-cutter for the headline and fun flower motif on this page, with photo corners die-cut from my favorite Fabulous Frames dies, and a one-inch scallop circle punch. The flowers will overlay parts of the photos strategically, helping to cover strangers and other distractions in the background of the photos.

I love layouts like this where you can fill as many of the photo frames as you need, and leave the others blank or use them for journaling. If you're doing immersion scrapbooking, you can make a stack of pages like this in different colors and themes, and then just pop in appropriate photos down the road. Easy peasy!

31 Pages in 31 Days Day Fifteen! 2022

Hello my friends! Welcome back to 31 Pages in 31 Days for August 2022, where we're on Day Fifteen already! Thanks for joining me for a month of immersion scrapbooking. Today's inspiration page has nothing to do with the weather right now... it's all about the cozy things we gather around ourselves when the skies are grey and the air is crispy.

What would be on this layout for you? A favorite mug, or a shot of your fuzzy-slippered feet propped up on the ottoman with a blanket over your legs? Maybe a furbaby on your lap? What makes you feel cozy? Document it!

I used a lot of free paper on this layout! The beautiful blue and pale green watercolored background came from the Rings of Love papers, and the silver stripes, although they aren't showing up too well, are from the 6x6 metallic assortment stack. 31 Pages in 31 Days Day Fourteen! 2022

Ahhh, I am so pleased with the giant stack of pages already completed this month! Is yours growing, too? If you're playing along with my annual blog series, 31 Pages in 31 Days, I bet that stack is already tall enough to fall over!

I love immersion scrapbooking--no guilt, just a glorious mess for four weeks every August, and then I promise to clean up and get on with life. : ) You should try it!

Today's inspiration layout is to showcase the (terrible) photos from fun we had during Riverfest, a giant party Watertown throws itself to celebrate the winding Rock River and our stunning, sprawling Riverside Park. It's a blast, though very noisy, and my favorite part is the fireworks. Oooh and the funnel cakes. And the craft fair!

I could not get my little alphabet dies to stay in line and I was too lazy to get some washi tape and make them behave, so I just let the wavy headline happen, and it's cute! Sometimes you just have to go with it.

I wish the sparkle showed up better in these pictures. I used the Parakeet Party (lime) and Sweet Sorbet (light red) glimmer paper for the headline and stars, plus Parakeet Party glimmer ribbon, unravelled to make a bigger impact. It's so pretty!
