So, if you follow Song of My Heart on any social media platform, you know I've been working on a BIG project during the month of July 2016. Today's the last day, and I wanted to share the results of my experiment as well as some insights I've had along the way. I've been scribbling down thoughts in the margins of my planner and the day' s to-do list. Enjoy my train of thought as I wandered through the month!
"I never send cards just for fun anymore. It's all business, business, business. I should send more cards."
"Oh look, my Facebook friend Penni just offered to send cards to anyone who asks her. I knew she was crazy."
"Wow, look at all the responses Penni is getting. Yup, crazy!"
"I really DO need to send more cards...Ok, I'm in. I'll put up a Facebook post, too. It'll be fun."
"What have I DONE?????"
"Sweet. It will be fun to send (old friend from kindergarten) a card. And (friend going thru tough time) will really love one, too."
"Oh my WORD who ARE these people?!? Where are they coming from?? I can't possibly have this many friends."
"Ok. Ok. This will be good for me. I needed to shake things up. It's a good kind of crazy."
"Who am I kidding? There is no good kind of crazy."
"Look at me go, I got twenty cards made today. I so totally rock! I can do this."
"I'm going to have to take the post down. No one can make that many cards in one month. It's inhuman!"
"Oh good, I finally got an address from (friend from high school). And I needed to send a card to (friend having health issues) anyway."
"Mission accomplished! First batch is in the mail!! Only 3,167 more to go (ding!) Make that 3,168."
(googles how to disable Facebook message notification ding)
"I wonder if anyone would notice if I just quietly deleted that post."
"This really kinda reminds me of how fun it was to send cards back when I first started making them."
"Aw, look at the cute cards Penni posted today. Ok. If she can do it, so can I."
"WHY did I add the hashtag #30DaysofHappyMail? Why, why, why didn't I use #3daysofhappymail? or #30totalpiecesofhappymail?"
"I am never. listening. to. Penni. Litwiller. ever. again."
"You know what? I really needed something like this challenge to shake things up. This is great!"
"For the love of fuzzy white kittens, PLEASE do not bump my post. I'm begging you."
"Seriously, who ARE these people? Did I friend you? Is Facebook ADDING friends to my profile?"
(hopeless sobbing)
"Is it cheating if I ask my team to help? Does that make me a bad leader?"
"Oh look, I'm out of envelopes. TOO BAD I have to place another Stampin' Up order."
"Whose original idea was this again? Oh right, Shannon West." (crosses Shannon off Christmas list)
"What do you mean, child labor is illegal? No sir-ee, this is a FAMILY business, mister!"
"This batch turned out so cute! I can't wait to mail these! They're going to love them!'
"I hate Facebook. Facebook is the devil."
"(singing) We shall overcome... we shall overcome..."
"I don't know how they tracked me down but I'm now getting addresses sent to me through Instagram, Splicoast Stampers, my home email and now my blog comments. They're ganging up on me!"
"Lyssa Zwolanek? Nope, never heard of her."
"Well, would you look at that. It's the bottom of my scrap bin. Look at all the stuff I used up. I feel so thrifty!"
"I wonder if anyone would notice if I left the country."
"I wonder if anyone would notice if Natalie signed these instead of me."
"I wonder if anyone would notice if I subbed in some Hallmark cards."
"Penni is dead to me."
"All right, Zwolanek, suck it up. Shannon has sent out well over a thousand cards in a year. You can do this for one month, you big weenie."
"You know, I really DO love stamping, though. This is crazy, but I think I needed this."
"No fair sending me addresses through Pinterest! Or Twitter! It's Facebook or NOTHING, people! Learn to READ!"
"Oh, look, I'm out of everything." (hits send on hostess-sized order)
"One Day More!" (puts Les Miserables soundtrack on repeat)
"I DID IT! Ok, so the last eighteen cards were scribbled on cardboard from cereal boxes with envelopes made from the Pic N Save flyer. But I DID it!!"
Hee hee! Thank you for supporting me on my crazy challenge, and a big thanks (and an I'm sorry?) to those who did it along with me. I exaggerated for this post, of course, but it was a little nuts. However? Totally worth it. Every cent of postage, every penny of supplies, every message mailed and friend reconnected with. I hope maybe someday you'll set yourself an audacious goal like #imbringingbackhappymail. I'll be there to cheer you on!
